Training Process Guidline
- Check the Equipment
Training List to see which equipments require a second qualifying
training session in order to be authorized to use the equipment
- To request equipment training, you must first
be placed on the equipment waiting list. This can be done by logging
on to the Equipment Reservation and
Training System. You must have a Nanolab badge to use this
system. If you are a new user and have not used the system before,
your password will be “nanolab”.
- Once you have logged on, fill out the Personal
Information Form. This step is important if you wish to add your
name to the equipment training waitlist.
- For each equipment you wish to be trained on,
add your name to the waitlist for that equipment.
- The training coordinator will announce the training
session via email with the specific date, time, and machine
- Individuals, who want to be trained, will email
Jamie back. PRIORITY WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE ON THE WAITING LIST.
- An email will be sent out confirming the individuals
who will be trained.
- The date and time of the training session will
be posted on the Nanolab calendar.
- Users who are placed on a training list and do
not show up, will be placed on a blacklist. This means you will
have the lowest priority when considered for training on that
particular machine you were originally signed up for. Users that
have been blacklisted for an equipment will have the word blacklisted
next to the equipment on the equipment training system.
- Names of people who have been trained will be
removed from the waiting list once a week.
- Once you have been fully trained on a certain
equipment, you may log on to the Equipment
Reservation and Training System and schedule a time to use
the equipment. You can only schedule time if you have been trained
on the equipment. Equipment Authorization Approval usually takes
1-2 days after you have been trained. If you have any problems,
please contact the training coordinator at nanotraining@nanolab.ucla.edu
.
- Please be patient with the training process as
there are many students who wish to be trained and a limited number
of staff. Usually (based on demand) equipment is scheduled for
training once a month.
